Chichén Itzá, Izamal and Valladolid

Four stops in one day, and none of them rushed

Chichén Itzá, Izamal and Valladolid

This is the full day. We set off early for Izamal, where the Franciscan convent and the yellow streets are walked at an easy pace. Then Chichén Itzá, with a guide, so you understand what you are looking at instead of only photographing it. Regional lunch in Kaua at midday, and as soon as the heat sets in, the Selva Maya cenote. We close in Valladolid, with its original wrought-iron park railings and the church of San Servacio.

Questions

Can you climb the pyramid?

No. Access has been closed since 2008 to preserve the structure. You walk around it, which is where the best photos are anyway.

Are entrance fees paid separately?

Yes, and in cash. It is the only part of the day where you will need bills.

Is it too much for one day?

It is four stops, but the cenote and lunch break the day in half. If you are travelling with small children or someone older, Chichén Express is lighter.
