North Coast and Isla Columpios
Wooden swings driven straight into the sea
Isla Columpios is not an island: it is sandbanks and mangrove off Chuburná Puerto, where the sea forms natural pools half a metre deep. There are swings and hammocks planted right in the water, and no hotel or big restaurant, which is exactly the point. You can only get there by boat. Then the Chuburná dunes and a free afternoon in Progreso, with its seven-kilometre pier.

Questions
Is lunch included?
No. Lunch is on your own in Progreso, where there is everything from seafood restaurants to seafront stalls. Budget 200 to 400 pesos.
Is it safe for children?
Very. The water at Isla Columpios is shallow and calm; it is one of the few places where you can walk fifty metres out.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If the harbour closes because of wind the boat does not go out, and we let you know in time to reschedule or switch tours.
